God Bless America

Yesterday when I was at a huge party, I overheard someone saying she wasn't sure how she felt about celebrating "July 4th" but she was glad to be there enjoying the food. I thought I must have been hearing things but I wasn't. She looked young-in her early twenties. I guess I'm getting really old. I love America. I love all it stands for. I love our freedom. I love our generosity .We might make mistakes sometimes-but who doesn't?Thanks to all of those who fight to protect our freedom and for the freedom of others who do not share our good fortune. And to those before us,who gave their life so that we may be free- from the early days before our Independence, when our forefathers put everything on the line to start this new country- the greatest in the world, America.

Special thanks to gals Molly and Maggie for the gorgeous-and delicious sugar cookie flag.

  1. Amen to that, Kathleen! God Bless America! And God Bless our Soldiers who continue fight to protect our great country and all of our freedoms! And God Bless the Citizens of this great country, and may He help us to continue to make it great.

-your cousin Susie in Pittsburgh, who is also trying to figure out what to do for the next 50 years (just turned 40, so I'll keep my fingers crossed, as well as eat right, exercise and wear sunscreen!), but will try to content myself with taking it one day at a time to raise my two wonderful sons (10 &8) who are keeping me very busy today with 4 baseball games.

P.S. - Keep up the writing, Kathleen! I loved "940"!

  3. Dear Kathleen -
I am so happy to hear your blog thoughts. Further, you continue to bring me up to speed on "computering". First you got me to check my emails regularly (well, somewhat) - and, now....I am blogging. Wait until I tell the kids! They'll be so proud that I'm a "today kind of Mom". All thanks to you!

    God Bless America!

PS - Heard from Chris - His ship served 'burgers and grilled chicken and had flare gun practice to simulate fireworks on the 4th. Thanks for appreciating all our troops.

  4. Thanks Tereee

If you have a recipe that is a "must" try- let me know and I'll put it in- I trust your taste buds completely. Glad to know they are "treating " our troops on the 4th!
